SERVING THE HOLINESS OF THE LORD

“Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.”
Psalm 96:6

The mission of the Altar Guild is to develop an awareness of what the altar represents and develop a universal knowledge of the altar linens, holy vessels and the liturgical vestments.

WHO WE ARE?

We are faithful filled group of volunteers of Saint Thomas Aquinas Church who work “behind the scenes” to maintain the sanctuary and caring for the beauty of the Church altar.

We take care of the altar linens and all other liturgical items for the altar.

Our duties and tasks include:

  • Washing and ironing purificators and corporals.
  • Drop-off and pickup of albs, chasubles, veils, palls, altar cloths, and servers cassocks.
  • Servicing the linens used on the altar and during the  Mass.
  • Preparing the vestments and altar dressings for different feasts and seasons .
  • An occasional “house keeping” get-together to dust and polish the sanctuary furniture.
Time Commitment: Varies with duties. Training is provided.
